Business Credit Report Info
If you think that the three credit reporting agencies maintain only the credit
reports of individual consumers, you’re quite wrong. The bureaus also maintain
the credit reports of businesses, specifically called the business credit
report.
Business owners should make it a point to check their business credit reports so
that they can keep track of their business’ financial position. There are times
when a business needs to secure credit to finance some of its business
operations and so credit facilities will usually look into the business’ credit
reports. Business owners should therefore have their own copy of the business
credit report to ensure that all the items there are correct.
Credit transactions can be found in the business credit report. The report is
often used as reference to determine the assets and liabilities of the business.
In the credit report, you will find pieces of information on the credit history
of the business, debts incurred, debtors list, creditors, loan repayments,
bills, and other things. Through the report, one can asses the company’s
financial position.
There is a need to check the business credit report so that the owners of the
business can identify if there are certain errors on the report or if there are
any negative remarks. Negative remarks and errors can hinder the approval of
loans from credit facilities. If the credit score of the business is quite low,
the business should take the necessary steps in repairing their credit standing
so that the score will increase somehow.
Like the individual consumer’s credit reports, the business credit report can
also be repaired. Businesses should have good credit reports so that they can
have a higher credit line. With excellent credit scores, a business can receive
the best rates for their loans. Businesses usually rely on credit repair
agencies or professionals to repair their credit.
Business credit reports are treated with confidentiality. You can’t just
disclose any information without the permission of the business owner. But since
the document is quite important in obtaining credit, business owners should
permit credit facilities to look into their credit reports. If the business has
a good credit record, it has nothing to fear.
It would be best to obtain the business credit report from any of the credit
reporting agencies or bureaus. It may also be possible to obtain a free copy of
the report but you will have to conduct an extensive search first and you must
be extra cautious not to access the ‘scam’ sites.
If you live near the office of any of the credit reporting bureau/agency, you
can get a request form there. You can also log in online because the bureaus
have official sites that you can visit. If you choose this alternative, you will
simply download the request form for business credit report. After that, you
need to fill up the form completely and accurately; once the form is complete,
you can now send it back to the bureau or agency.
The credit bureau will verify the information on the form and the business
credit report will be sent to you by hand delivery, post, or fax. Once you have
the business credit report, review its contents immediately. Don’t waste time
because the credit score might be low due to some errors or mistakes on the
report. Correct the mistakes, if any, or repair your credit if the score is
quite low.
